(Satellite conference of the International Congress of Mathematics
Berlin 1998)
Kotor, Yugoslavia, 28. 8. - 3. 9.'98.

Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade
Mathematical Institute of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts

The conference emphasizes the interplay between geometry (algebraic, discrete, computational, convexity), topology (combinatorial aspects, combinatorial invariants), combinatorics (algebraic, geometric, graph theory) and many other related fields.
In this respect the conference is planned to continue the tradition of the meetings in Stockholm 1989, Jerusalem 1993, Oberwolfach 1995, Berkeley (MSRI) 1997, Barcelona 1997.

The conference starts on Friday morning, August 28 and lasts till Thursday, September 3. The suggested arrival day is August 27. There will be about twelve plenary talks. Depending on the number of participants, the rest of the conference will be organized in parallel sessions.

Social events :
The opening reception is planned for Friday evening, August 28. Kotor is a beautiful old town with many old churches, museums and other interesting historical sights. There will be organized tours of the town. Also two half-day excursions are planned (one of them will be a boat tour of the Kotor bay and another a bus tour to the neighboring town of Cetinje).

Abstracts and papers :
We plan to have abstracts of lectures printed in advance. If you intend to present a talk, send us your abstract (preferably a LaTeX or AMSTeX file) by June 20. We also plan to publish the invited and contributed talks in the proceedings of the conference. The participants are invited to submit their papers by the end of the conference.

The conference fee for participants is 100 DEM and it is paid at the registration desk. It covers the cost of the conference materials, refreshments, and admission to all social events (possibly with the exception of one of the excursions).

The conference will take place in hotel Fjord (A category)
The special (subsidized) price for the conference participants and their companions is:
Single room: 55 DEM/person/day
Double room: 42 DEM/person/day
The price covers the full board and lodging (including all three meals, and local taxes). Participants are expected to pay for the accommodation upon arrival but early reservations are important since the number of rooms may be limited.
